She provides a safe, steady, and emotionally secure space where clients can explore their inner world, understand their experiences, and develop healthier ways of coping. Nuala is committed to working collaboratively, meeting each person with warmth, curiosity, and respect as they navigate challenges related to their emotional and psychological wellbeing.
Nuala holds a BA in Counselling Skills with Addiction Studies, a BA (Honours) in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and a Level 9 Postgraduate Diploma in Gambling Studies. These academic foundations are complemented by additional studies in areas such as law and sports psychology, giving her a broad, multidimensional understanding of human behaviour. Her diverse training supports her capacity to see each client as a whole person, shaped by relationships, environment, identity, trauma history, and personal strengths.
Working with adults and young people, Nuala supports individuals experiencing a wide range of emotional and relational concerns. She has extensive experience with clients who have lived through overwhelming or complex life events, including trauma, childhood adversity, grief, identity struggles, and relational difficulties. She also has specialist training in behavioural addictions, yet her therapeutic work extends far beyond addiction, focusing instead on the deeper emotional processes that influence how people cope, connect, and recover.
Throughout her career, Nuala has worked across residential, community, and private settings, supporting people presenting with complex trauma histories, grief, emotional dysregulation, anxiety, relational stress, and co-occurring mental health difficulties. She brings significant experience supporting women affected by developmental trauma and childhood sexual abuse, offering a grounding therapeutic presence for clients who require stabilisation, emotional regulation support, and long-term healing work. Her experience also includes group facilitation and psychoeducational work, supporting clients in developing resilience and understanding the emotional patterns that impact their daily lives.
Nuala’s therapeutic style is warm, grounded, and relational. She integrates humanistic, person-centred, psychodynamic, and trauma-informed approaches, adapting her work to meet each client’s individual pace and needs. She incorporates psychoeducation, emotional regulation strategies, and evidence-based interventions to help clients build insight, strengthen internal resources, and navigate their healing journey with greater clarity and stability. Above all, she aims to help clients rebuild self-trust, reclaim their voice, and move forward with a deeper sense of empowerment.
Her professional memberships include registration with the Association of Professional Counsellors & Psychotherapists (APCP). She is Garda vetted, fully insured for private practice, and works in accordance with APCP’s ethical and professional guidelines.
Nuala is particularly interested in trauma and complex trauma, women’s mental health, grief, emotional dysregulation, identity, addiction recovery, and the relational patterns that shape how people experience themselves and others. Guided by the belief that every person holds the capacity for healing and growth, she is dedicated to supporting clients in developing resilience, restoring emotional balance, and making meaningful, lasting change.
