Full HSE-recognised ADHD assessment from €550 for adults. PSI and IMC registered clinicians. In-person in Dublin and Nenagh, or online anywhere in Ireland.
ADHD presents differently in different people. If several of these resonate, an assessment can give you a clearer picture.
A diagnosis is not the end of the story. For most people, it is the point at which things start to make sense.
Adult ADHD assessments range from €550 to €850 in total, depending on which clinician you choose and whether you opt for an outcome letter or a more extensive report. Children's assessments are inclusive of a full report, from €605.

Choose your pathway - Neurodiversity Practitioner or Consultant Psychiatrist - and pick an appointment time. No GP referral needed. Most appointments are available within 1-2 weeks.
A thorough evaluation using gold-standard tools including the DIVA-5 diagnostic interview alongside a detailed personal and developmental history. In-person or online.
Choose an outcome letter or an HSE-recognised report. The report is accepted by GPs, employers, schools, universities, the DSP and for RACE and DARE applications.
Both pathways deliver a comprehensive HSE-recognised diagnostic report. The key difference is clinician type and whether medication can be discussed at the same appointment.
An ADHD assessment is a clinical evaluation to determine whether attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is contributing to difficulties you or your child are experiencing. It is not a questionnaire or a quick screening tool. A qualified clinician reviews your history in detail, explores how symptoms present across different settings - home, work, relationships - and considers whether other explanations should be ruled out first.
A recent Irish review estimated that around 1.5% of adults in Ireland meet full diagnostic criteria for ADHD (BJPsych Bulletin, 2024). Adult ADHD is particularly underdiagnosed in women, whose symptoms tend to be more internalised - anxiety, disorganisation, emotional dysregulation - rather than the visible hyperactivity more commonly associated with a childhood diagnosis.
At The Private Therapy Clinic, assessments are carried out by psychologists registered with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) and psychiatrists registered with the Irish Medical Council (IMC). Where ADHD is diagnosed, you receive a written report with clear recommendations for next steps.
Before your appointment, you complete questionnaires about current difficulties and childhood history. The assessment itself is a detailed clinical interview lasting 90-120 minutes, conducted by a PSI-registered psychologist or IMC-registered psychiatrist. The clinician uses validated tools including the DIVA-5 - a structured diagnostic interview specifically designed for adult ADHD - alongside standardised rating scales.
Following the assessment, you receive a written diagnostic report. If ADHD is diagnosed, the report includes a full clinical account and recommendations for support. If ADHD is not diagnosed, the clinician will discuss what else may be contributing to your difficulties and recommend appropriate next steps.
Child and adolescent assessments involve parents or carers throughout. Questionnaires are completed about behaviour, developmental history, and current difficulties at home and at school. Information is often gathered from teachers as well.
During the assessment, the clinician meets with your child and observes how they engage across different settings - this multi-informant, multi-setting approach is central to a robust diagnosis. Reports meet requirements for RACE exam accommodations and DARE college access applications.
A diagnosis is the beginning, not the end. Unlike some assessment-only services, The Private Therapy Clinic offers a complete pathway from diagnosis through to medication, therapy, coaching, or ongoing psychiatric support. Your care does not need to be fragmented across different providers.
Psychological therapy - particularly cognitive behavioural approaches adapted for ADHD - can help with the practical and emotional impact of living with the condition. ADHD coaching focuses on building systems and strategies that work with how your brain functions. Many people benefit from a combination of approaches.
Not everyone with ADHD chooses or needs medication. But if you do want to explore it, here is exactly what happens.
A comprehensive HSE-recognised diagnostic report confirming your diagnosis. This is the document your GP, pharmacist, employer or university will reference.
If assessed by a Neurodiversity Practitioner, the next step is a consultation with one of our Consultant Psychiatrists. If assessed by one of our Psychiatrists, medication can often be discussed at the same appointment.
Our Psychiatrist reviews your diagnosis, discusses your symptoms and health history, and determines the most appropriate medication. Common options include methylphenidate (Ritalin, Concerta) and lisdexamfetamine (Vyvanse).
Medication is started at a low dose and adjusted gradually. Regular check-ins ensure you are responding well and any side effects are managed promptly.
Once stable, we write to your GP for a shared care arrangement. Alternatively, repeat prescriptions remain available through our service for €60-€108.
ADHD coaching, CBT therapy, and psychotherapy are all available within the same service.
Not everyone with ADHD needs medication. Our psychiatrists discuss all options - including non-medication approaches - before making any recommendations.
For adults: €550 for an MDT assessment with a Neurodiversity Practitioner (or €750 if you choose a more extensive report instead of the outcome letter). €650 for a direct assessment with a PSI Psychologist or Consultant Psychiatrist (or €850 with the more extensive report). For children and adolescents: €605 with an MDT or €800 with a PSI Psychologist, both inclusive of a full report. Klarna pay-in-3 is available at checkout.
ADHD can be diagnosed by a qualified psychologist registered with the PSI or a psychiatrist registered with the IMC. GPs cannot make a formal ADHD diagnosis.
