Saiyuri Naidu is a Trainee Counselling Psychologist at The Private Therapy Clinic, offering Person-Centred Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) interventions. Her therapeutic approach is rooted in empathy, trust, and collaboration, working alongside clients to develop a shared understanding of their experiences, the challenges they face, and their personal goals for therapy.
Saiyuri creates a warm, non-judgmental, and confidential space where clients feel safe to explore their thoughts and emotions. She recognises that beginning therapy can feel daunting, and she strives to make the process as comfortable and accessible as possible. She believes in fostering a strong therapeutic bond, as this connection is essential for meaningful personal growth.
Saiyuri holds a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from the University of Bath and an MSc in Clinical Psychology from Royal Holloway University. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at the University of Roehampton.
Her diverse experience spans specialist and secondary care NHS services as well as private practice, where she has worked with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and age groups. Saiyuri has provided psychological support to refugees and asylum seekers, adults struggling with addiction, and young people facing self-esteem issues and self-harm.
Her expertise includes supporting clients with Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, and Addiction, tailoring her approach to meet the specific needs of each individual. She remains committed to staying up to date with evidence-based research, ensuring her therapeutic techniques are informed by the latest psychological advancements.
Saiyuri takes a holistic approach to well-being, recognising the profound connection between the mind and body. She incorporates breathwork practices to help clients regulate their nervous system and develop a deeper awareness of their bodily experiences. She also advocates for yoga, strength training, meditation, and balanced nutrition as complementary practices that can enhance mental health and emotional resilience.
Having grown up in South Africa before moving abroad, Saiyuri understands the complexities of cultural identity and the impact of social injustices on mental health. As a third culture individual from an ethnic minority background, she has firsthand insight into the challenges of feeling misunderstood or “othered.” Her lived experience allows her to offer clients a meaningful sense of connection, particularly those navigating cultural identity, belonging, and systemic discrimination.
The initial session with Saiyuri is designed to establish a collaborative foundation, helping both therapist and client understand how they can work together effectively. This session is structured yet flexible, allowing space for discussion about the client’s current challenges, personal history, and support system. Clients are also encouraged to outline their therapy goals, ensuring that sessions are tailored to their individual needs.
Saiyuri will also explain key aspects of therapy, such as confidentiality and the therapy contract, while addressing any concerns or questions. Her goal is to provide clarity, reassurance, and a welcoming environment where clients feel supported from the very first session.
By integrating compassionate, evidence-based therapy with a holistic, culturally informed perspective, Saiyuri empowers clients to explore their experiences, build resilience, and achieve meaningful personal growth.
